Dental Screening
Dental screening is available to all children in the Porcupine Health Unit area from birth, up to and including age 17.
We screen to gather statistics regarding the oral health status of our area children. This helps us establish programs to ensure that all children can receive the care they need.
Dental screening is a quick visual inpsection by a Registered Dental Hygienist to identify obvious dental conditions that are causing or will cause pain.
Screening is done annually to JK, SK and Grades 2, 4, 6, and 8 students in all elementary schools in the area. Parents are notified if their child has an urgent dental problem or if preventive services are recommended.
Parents of preschool children and high school students may arrange an appointment for a dental screening by contacting our office at (705) 267-1181 or by email at dental@porcupinehu.on.ca
