Breastfeeding Friendly
Information for restaurant / business owners and managers
Your business depends on families – and, with over 900 babies born in our district each year, new mothers are an important part of your customer base.
Many mothers find it awkward to nurse their babies in restaurants and other public places. Businesses across Canada are working to change this situation – and to broaden their appeal.
Join the growing number of restaurants, stores and malls that openly welcome nursing mothers, and see what being “breastfeeding friendly” can do for you.
Businesses designated as Breastfeeding Friendly will be highlighted on the Porcupine Health Unit’s website and in our work with young families.
Businesses will also receive the following resources free of charge:
- Breastfeeding Friendly static clings
- Breastfeeding Friendly stickers
- A personalized “Guide for Staff” poster
- Information sheets
- An electronic version of the International Breastfeeding Symbol for use in printing menus, advertisements or other promotional materials
If you are a business owner interested in becoming Breastfeeding Friendly, please call your local health unit office, or email us at family.health@porcupinehu.on.ca.
