Hospital Visits

A public health nurse from the Porcupine Health Unit visits the obstetrical floor at the hospitals throughout our district.  With the mother’s written consent, the nurse obtains information about the birth of her baby and her stay at the hospital.  She also visits with the new mothers who are still in hospital to offer them the "Let’s Grow" resource and to let them know about the Growing Healthy Families programs and services and other family health services available to them when they are home with their baby.

Let's Grow Newsletters

The Let’s Grow resource is offered to all parents of children from newborn to five years. Parents who subscribe will receive twelve free “Let’s Grow” issues.  Let’s Grow information packages will be mailed to parents at age appropriate intervals for the first five years.  In each of the twelve issues, there will be information about child growth and development, speech and language, hearing, vision, safety, play, parenting skills and parenting resources.
