HBHC Home Visiting Program

Being a parent is a rewarding job!  Seeing your baby smile when he looks at you or getting hugs and kisses “just because” makes you feel good!  Sometimes though, you may not feel so good about being a parent.  Parenting requires time, consistency and patience (and lots of it!).  The Home Visiting Program can help!  A public health nurse and a family home visitor visit with you and your family to offer information and support.  They can also connect you to the different programs and services offered in the community that may make your family’s life a little easier, a little better.

They can help with:

  • Parenting
  • Attachment and bonding
  • Child nutrition
  • Discipline
  • Temper tantrums
  • Toilet learning
  • Safety
  • Meeting other parents
  • Referrals to appropriate services

And so much more…

An evaluation of the program found that HBHC had a significant and measurable positive influence on child health. Children receiving HBHC services scored higher on most infant development measures.  Parents reported that they had more confidence in their parenting, less stress, and felt more supported in their parenting role.

Family Home Visitors

A family home visitor is a mom, just like you, who wants to help parents help their children be the best that they can be!  She visits your home and brings you information on different topics related to parenting and growth and development.  You get to decide what you want to learn about.  The family home visitor will also bring activities to do with you and your children such as crafts, puzzles, songs, etc.

The family home visitor works with the public health nurse in the Healthy Babies Healthy Children Program to help you and your family raise happy, healthy children!
