The Ontario Newborn Screening Program is a provincial program that will screen every newborn in Ontario for at least 27 metabolic, endocrine, blood and other disorders.

The program was launched by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care in 2006 and is housed at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario.

As of April 2008, screening for cystic fibrosis was added to the list of newborn screening tests. For more information on this screening test, please contact us at genetics@porcupinehu.on.ca or visit the Ontario Newborn Screening Program website at www.newbornscreening.on.ca.
