High School Clinics

A sexual health nurse is available in most area high schools to make it easier for students to access clinical services and to provide confidential counselling regarding:

• personal responsibility and decision making
• relationships and assertiveness (including techniques for negotiating safer sex and healthy relationships)
• methods of contraception including abstinence
• pregnancy testing
• prevention of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)
• sexual orientation
• condom distribution in designated schools
• referral to physician or nurse practitioner at the Porcupine Health Unit office (if required)
