Copy of letter, dated October 26, 2015, to Premier Wynne, supporting recommendations from Peterborough County-City Health Unit, Sudbury District Board of Health and Thunder Bay District Board of Health to address the ongoing lack of resources and infrastructure to ensure the safe, efficient and effective temporary relocation of First Nations communities in Northwestern Ontario and the James Bay coast when they face environmental and weather related threats in the form of seasonal floods and forest fires.

Copy of letter, dated November 4, 2015, to Minister Matthews, requesting the provincial government to increase social assistance basic allowance rates to an amount that is adequate to cover basic living expenses, including the cost of healthy eating as determined by the food costing survey, which will allow low income individuals and families to afford to eat healthier and ultimately reduce lifestyle related chronic disease which can contribute to lower healthcare costs.

Copy of letter, dated November 6, 2015, to Evelyn Vaccari, Chair, Ontario Society of Nutrition Professionals in Public Health (OSNPPH) and Lyndsay Davidson, Chair, OSNPPH Food Security Workgroup, thanking them for their work in raising awareness regarding local poverty and food insecurity rates.

Re: Cannabis Regulation and Control: Public Health Approach to Cannabis Legalization

Copy of letter, dated December 1, 2015, to Prime Minister Trudeau, advising of their Board’s resolution requesting that he support a public health approach to the forthcoming cannabis legalization framework, including strict health-focused regulations to reduce the health and societal harms associated with cannabis use.

Copy of letter, dated December 2, 2015, to Lorraine Fry and Donna Kosmack, Co-Chairs, Smoke-Free Housing Ontario, advising of their Board’s resolution, supporting the Northwestern Health Unit motion on smoke-free multi-unit housing, the efforts of the Smoke-Free Housing Ontario Coalition and others, in their actions and policies to reduce the exposure of second-hand smoke in multi-unit housing.
