The Porcupine Health Unit has recently received reports from the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, of possible blue-green algae blooms in the vicinity of the confluence of Black River and Driftwood River within the municipality of Iroquois Falls.
The Porcupine Health Unit advises people using lakes and rivers at this and any location to be on the lookout for algal blooms. If you see green water or scum near your property or water intake line, take precaution.
The Iroquois Falls branch of the Porcupine Health Unit is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1:00 to 4:30 p.m.
During the summer months of July and August our hours change to 8:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Porcupine Health Unit investigates all animal incidents where there is a break to the skin, such as teeth marks and scratches, for the risk of rabies. If you have been involved in an incident, report animal incidents to the health unit so follow-up can begin.
