Healthy Weights for Children
It is important for kids to have a healthy lifestyle that includes healthy eating and physical activity.
Children should have balanced meals that include 3 out of the 4 food groups from Canada’s Food Guide. Children aged 4-8 need 5 servings of vegetables and fruits, 4 servings of grain products, 3-4 servings of milk and alternatives and 1-2 servings of meat and alternatives each day.
Additionally, Children aged 6-14 should be physically active for 90 minutes each day. This can include going for a walk, playing soccer or hockey, playing outside with friends, swimming and biking.
