Introducing Physical Activity in Toddlers (Ages 1 to 2)

Toddlers need at least 180 minutes of physical activity at any intensity spread throughout the day, including:

  • A variety of activities in different environments
  • Activities that develop movement skills

Being active for a toddler means:

  • Getting some tummy time
  • Climbing stairs and moving around the home
  • Crawling, brisk walking, running or dancing
  • Playing outside and exploring their environment (Try using soap bubbles)
  • Developing body awareness with massage
