Mpox is a rare disease that is caused by infection with the mpox virus. Mpox can cause a rash, which may look like pimples or blisters, and sometimes can cause a flu-like illness.
As the colder months approach, illnesses like the flu, RSV, and COVID-19 tend to spread more since people are often indoors. To best protect against severe sickness or hospital stays, everyone should ensure their vaccinations are up to date.
Your hands play a major role in the spread of germs that cause illness. Unwashed hands carry bacteria and viruses that cause infections, such as colds and influenza. Everyone can work together to prevent the spread of illness. In addition to washing your hands, get immunized, cough and sneeze into a tissue or your sleeve, stay home if you are sick, and keep commonly touched surfaces clean.
