Twenty-three New Confirmed Cases of COVID-19 and Outbreak In the Porcupine Health Unit Area

The Porcupine Health Unit (PHU) is reporting twenty-three new COVID-19 cases among residents in the health unit area. Twenty are in the James and Hudson Bay region, two cases are in Timmins and one case is in the Kapuskasing, Opasatika, Val Rita-Harty, Moonbeam & Fauquier-Strickland region. Seven cases are contacts of a case and sixteen cases are under investigation.


The PHU is also declaring a COVID-19 oubreak at Dutch Love Cannabis in Timmins. To date, two individuals are confirmed cases of COVID-19 and the investigation has determined that the cases are related to the workplace.

Remember that every outing is a low risk exposure and you need to follow public health measures correctly each and every time you leave your house. This includes times when you pick up items curbside. 

Stay home and self-isolate if:

  • You are confirmed case
  • You think or you are a contact of a confirmed case
  • You have symptoms – get tested
  • You are waiting for your test results
  • Someone in your household has symptoms
