1.0 Call to Order

Sue Perras, Board of Health Chair, called the Board of Health meeting to order at 4:03 p.m.

2.0 Approval of Agenda

The agenda for the March 10, 2022, Board of Health meeting was reviewed. The following motion was read:

3.0 Conflict of Interest Declaration

There were no conflicts of interest declared.

4.0 Approval of the Previous Minutes

The minutes from the Board of Health meeting held on February 3, 2022, were reviewed and the following motion was read:

5.0 Business Arising from Minutes

There were no items under Business Arising.

6.0  Report of the Medical Officer of Health/Chief Executive Officer

The Report of the Medical Officer of Health for March 10, 2022, was presented by Dr. Catton to the Board of Health for information purposes. Sue Perras thanked Dr. Catton for an informative report. The following motion was read:

Board of Health Resolution #BOH-2022-02-25 

Be It Resolved, that the Board of Health for the Porcupine Health Unit accepts the MOH/CEO report for March 10, 2022.

7.0 Board of Health Finance Committee

There was no meeting and no report from the Finance Committee.

8.0  Correspondence

Correspondence was received for information purposes. Correspondence from the Association of Ontario Public Health Business Administrators (AOPHBA) dated February 9, 2022, Ontario Regulation116/20 Work Deployment Measures for Boards of Health was discussed. Public Health is awaiting confirmation that this will remain in effect until April 27th. Correspondence from Public Health Sudbury & Districts dated February 23, 2022, Health and Racial Equity: Denouncing Acts and Symbols of Hate was brought forward for discussion and awareness. Dr. Catton requested further consideration by the Board to issue similar messaging to address inequities faced throughout our region that were highlighted during the pandemic.

The Board agreed, and this will be brought forward at the next meeting of the Board.

9.0 New Business

9.1  alPHa Winter Symposium L. Catton

The Winter Symposium was held virtually on February 25th with Dr. Catton, Mary-Lou Pollon, Chair Sue Perras, and Board Member John Curley in attendance. An overview of the day was provided by the attendees. Sessions included presentations by the Honorable Christine Elliott, Minister of Health, and Dr. Kieran Moore, Chief Medical Officer of Health.  Dr. Moore thanked and acknowledged Public Health for its role addressing the pandemic and discussed it’s future state going forward with the pandemic. The symposium also provided an opportunity to review the priorities of public health outside of the COVID response.

10.0 In-Camera

The Board of Health moved in-camera at 4:49 p.m. for a discussion regarding personnel manners, and the following motion was read:
