Become a Certified Food Handler

The certified food handler course is beneficial to anyone involved in food handling in the food service industry, especially owners, operators and staff of food premises. If you already are a certified food handler and it has been five years or more, we encourage you to re-certify.

You may participate in the certified food handler course by registering for the classroom sessions, or by registering for either the In Good Hands online self-paced course or the Food Safety Training online self-paced course.
Taking the online course may require that you contact the health unit to write the final exam (fee is required).

Registration

Registration for any course or to write the exam is on a first-come, first-served basis. A registration fee is required and must be submitted to the Porcupine Health Unit.

If you have any questions pertaining to food handler training or would like to book a course for your workplace, please contact us at 705-267-1181, 1-800-461-1818 or by e-mail at inspections@porcupinehu.on.ca
