Our Strategic Plan 2018-2023

A Message from the Medical Officer of Health

I am pleased to present the PHU Strategic Plan 2018-2023. The input of the PHU staff, the Board of Health, valued community partners and the general public was greatly appreciated. Ensuring the local voice is represented will continue to be important in guiding our work.

This process has been successful due to the tremendous dedication of the entire PHU team. We look forward to continued collaboration within our communities as we work to address these priority areas in this strategic plan to improve the health and well-being of all PHU communities.

Lianne Catton, MD, CFPC-EM

Our Planning Process

There were three key components in the development of the 2018-2023 Porcupine Health Unit Strategic Plan.

1. Context

Reviewed best practices, PHU population health data, and relevant public health documents

2. Key stakeholder engagement

  • Surveys and interviews were conducted to ensure the strategic plan was relevant to all PHU communities and that proposed strategic priorities resonated with key stakeholders.
  • 764 surveys and 20 interviews included feedback from:
    • PHU all-staff consultation day
    • Board of Health (BOH)
    • Community partners
    • General public

3. Strategic plan development

Validation of final strategic plan with BOH and PHU staff
